Europe clears regulatory path for bidirectional EV charging as VW, BMW and BYD push vehicle-to-grid capability

European regulators are dismantling barriers that prevented electric vehicles from feeding power back to homes and grids, enabling vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-home applications. Major manufacturers including Volkswagen, BMW and BYD are positioning to commercialise bidirectional charging technology. Industry experts forecast that nearly all new electric cars will offer the capability by 2035.
