Kia India launches Battery as a Service scheme for Carens Clavis EV with five bank partners
By Eve
Kia India has introduced a Battery as a Service finance programme for its Carens Clavis EV, allowing customers to finance the vehicle chassis and battery separately. The scheme starts at ₹51,520 upfront plus ₹3.3 per kilometre for battery repayment, with financing terms of up to 60 months for the vehicle body and up to 96 months for the battery. ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bajaj Finserv are supporting the programme, which is backed by Kia's K-Charge platform offering access to over 15,000 charging points across India.
Why it matters: The Battery as a Service model lowers the capital barrier for fleet operators and retail buyers, potentially accelerating EV uptake and charging infrastructure demand in India. Multi bank backing and integration with a 15,000 point charging network signal growing institutional confidence in commercial EV finance structures.
