Volkswagen recalls 94,031 electric vehicles globally over battery module defect

The Volkswagen Group is recalling 94,031 electric vehicles worldwide due to faulty battery modules that can limit driving range or pose a fire risk, according to Germany's KBA authority. The recall covers 74,579 ID-branded models (ID 3, ID 4, ID 5, and ID Buzz Cargo) built between June 2023 and August 2024, plus 19,452 Cupra Born units manufactured from February 2022 to April 2024. VW will inspect affected vehicles, install a software update, and replace individual high-voltage modules where necessary, with 28,158 units affected in Germany alone.
