Mercedes electric C Class previewed in Malaysia with 690 km WLTP range and 320 kW DC charging

By Eve

Mercedes Benz Malaysia previewed the all new electric C Class on 4 November 2026, with the local C300 4Matic AMG Line Plus estimated at RM360,888. It uses dual motors and all wheel drive for 421 PS and 800 Nm, with an 85 kWh usable NCM battery rated at up to 690 km on the WLTP cycle. The 800 volt architecture supports DC charging at up to 320 kW, with 10% to 80% in 22 minutes and 290 km regained in 10 minutes, plus a 22 kW AC onboard charger.

Why it matters

A premium model rated for 320 kW DC and 22 kW AC raises the bar for what Malaysian charge point operators and site hosts will be asked to support at the high end. It is also a signal that the 800 volt vehicle segment is arriving locally, which bears on the power levels and uptime that premium drivers will expect.

Mercedes-Benz sells its European charging network to Electra

Mercedes-Benz has exited EV charging in Europe by selling its network to French operator Electra, a move disclosed in its third-quarter financial report, which valued the associated assets at €99 million ($111 million). The network comprised 374 fast-charging ports at 47 locations, all of which now join Electra's network, as first reported by Electrive. Electra becomes a "Premium Partner" second only to Ionity, and Mercedes-Benz drivers get discounted rates at over 5,000 Electra chargers across 800 locations, while the US fast charging business is unaffected.

Why it matters

A premium OEM stepping back from owning charging infrastructure in Europe and leaning on partners such as Ionity and Electra shows where OEM demand is heading, towards partnership and roaming deals rather than proprietary builds. CPOs with strong coverage and reliability have a clear route to OEM tie-ups, and Electra has gained sites and a favoured partner position.

Electra and Mercedes-Benz expand European fast-charging access as Fastned has 70 new stations under construction

Dutch Mercedes-Benz drivers will gain access to more than 800 Electra charging stations across Europe, though it is not yet clear whether the partnership will bring benefits at Dutch sites. In the same news roundup, Fastned has 70 new fast-charging stations under construction across Europe, almost twice as many as last year, and has completed 46 new stations so far in 2026. BYD has also installed the first Flash Charger in the Netherlands, at its Hoofddorp head office, with a maximum charging power of 1,500 kW under the right conditions.

Why it matters

Automaker and CPO roaming partnerships are widening network access, while Fastned's near doubling of its build pipeline signals faster competition for prime sites. Operators should also note the activity around grid constraints, with BOVAG holding a 9 December 2026 meeting in Utrecht on fast charging without grid upgrades and Q8 electric adding chargers to an existing petrol station in Mijdrecht.

Vauxhall passes 100,000 UK battery electric vehicle sales

Vauxhall has sold 102,852 electric vehicles in the UK as of October 2026, with the 100,000th sale a Grandland Electric 213PS Ultimate delivered by Drive Vauxhall Nuneaton. The brand reached 10,000 EV sales in 2021 and 50,000 in 2023, a tenfold rise in customer demand, and the Mokka Electric (more than 26,000 sales) and Corsa Electric (more than 23,000) lead its range of eight electric models. The figures come from Vauxhall's milestone announcement, which also cites its 2023 Electric Streets of Britain campaign inviting drivers to register the need for on-street charging.

Why it matters

A mass-market brand with over 100,000 UK EVs on the road points to a growing base of drivers, many in mainstream segments, who will need public and on-street charging. For CPOs and local authority procurement teams, the Electric Streets of Britain campaign is a signal of registered demand for on-street provision.
