Brazil plug-in vehicle fleet forecast to reach 650,000 units by end 2026, up 84 per cent year on year

Charging solutions firm Neocharge projects Brazil's plug-in light vehicle fleet (battery electric and plug-in hybrids) will grow to around 650,000 units by the end of 2026, an 84 per cent increase on the 354,000 units recorded at end 2025, and reach 1.1 million by 2027. That 2027 figure would represent roughly 75 per cent of the country's total electrified fleet of 1.45 million vehicles, up from 58 per cent today. The total electrified fleet, including non plug-in hybrids, stood at 613,000 units at end 2025, a 64 per cent annual rise, with growth attributed to expanded model availability from Asian manufacturers, lower operating costs and rising consumer confidence despite high interest rates.
Why it matters: A near doubling of plug-in vehicles in two years signals accelerating demand for public and workplace charging infrastructure across Brazil's cities and highways. Charge point operators and equipment suppliers face a rapidly expanding addressable market as plug-ins shift from niche to mainstream, requiring scaled deployment plans and grid integration strategies.
