Plugit and Volvo complete Finland's first public Megawatt Charging System session for heavy-duty trucks
By Eve
EV charging provider Plugit has conducted Finland's first public Megawatt Charging System (MCS) charging session, charging a Volvo FH Aero Electric truck at its PRO station in Kotka. Plugit now offers public MCS charging at two sites in Finland (Kotka and Lieto) and operates around 350 public charging points, including nine designed for heavy-duty vehicles, with a tenth heavy-duty site under construction in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The Volvo FH Aero Electric truck supports charging at up to 700 kW and has a range of up to 700 km.
Why it matters
This marks commercial deployment of the MCS standard for heavy-duty charging in Finland, signalling infrastructure readiness for electric truck fleets on longer routes. Plugit's expansion to ten heavy-duty sites across Finland and Sweden demonstrates growing procurement opportunities for MCS-capable charging hardware and installation services.

Volvo plans lower priced SPA3 EV for Europe in 2027, targeting C-segment below EX60
Volvo will launch a second electric vehicle on its SPA3 platform in Europe after summer 2027, priced below the EX60 which ranges from £57,000 to £70,000. The model targets a large lower priced market segment and is one of 13 new cars Volvo will launch globally by 2030. The vehicle is expected to compete in Europe's C-segment, where Volvo currently offers the ageing XC40, and may replace the EX40 EV which starts at £44,000.
Why it matters
A lower priced Volvo EV entering the high volume C-segment will likely drive increased charging infrastructure demand at fleet depots, workplace sites and public networks across Europe. The model's positioning below £57,000 could accelerate commercial fleet electrification and expand the addressable market for destination and en route charging operators.
Michelin launches EV charging card for fleets across 1.2 million European charge points
Michelin unveiled Michelin EV Charge on 8 October, a charging card and app for business fleets developed by subsidiary Michelin Connected Fleet with Dutch partner Deftpower. The service offers access to over 1.2 million charge points across Europe and targets cost reduction for corporate drivers. Michelin cites Arval's 2026 mobility barometer showing 57% of company fleets already operate electric vehicles, with a further 19% planning to electrify within three years.
Why it matters
A major industrial brand entering fleet charging services signals growing demand for unified roaming solutions as corporate EV adoption accelerates. The 1.2 million point network and real time availability features address key pain points for fleet managers procuring charging access at scale.
Chevrolet Bolt driver pays 72 cents per kilowatt hour at Tesla Supercharger, highlighting wide pricing variation across US networks
A Chevrolet Bolt owner reported paying 72 cents per kilowatt hour for a six minute charging session at a Tesla Supercharger located at a Wawa convenience store at 10:30 p.m., compared to 39 cents per kilowatt hour at a nearby Ionna charger. Reddit users responding to the post indicated that Wawa locations charge a premium of around 70 cents at most facilities, with off peak pricing starting at midnight, and that some Tesla Supercharger sites offer off peak rates from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. at half the standard price. The session added roughly 2 kilowatt hours to the vehicle starting from 50% battery, with the CCS to NACS adapter working without technical issues.
Why it matters
The case illustrates significant pricing disparities between charging networks and host site partners, with location and time of use creating cost differences of up to 85% for the same service. For CPOs and site hosts, it underscores how pricing strategy and peak versus off peak structures directly affect driver perception and network competitiveness in the expanding multi standard US market.
