Rivian lifts 2026 delivery outlook to 65,000 to 70,000 vehicles on R2 SUV demand

Rivian raised its full year 2026 delivery forecast on 2 July to between 65,000 and 70,000 vehicles, up from a prior range of 62,000 to 67,000, after second quarter deliveries of 12,194 units beat analyst expectations of roughly 10,600. The automaker attributed the upgrade to strong demand for its commercial vans and R1 models, plus the start of deliveries of its new R2 SUV, which began production at its Illinois plant in April and reached customers in June. The R2 currently starts at 57,990 US dollars for the Performance trim, with a 48,490 US dollar rear wheel drive Standard model expected in early 2027.
Why it matters: Higher Rivian production volumes signal growing fleet and commercial van orders that may drive charging infrastructure demand at depots and workplace sites. The R2 launch at a lower price point than R1 models could expand the addressable market for destination and public charging tied to Rivian's ecosystem.
