Mer exits UK fleet charging via management buyout to focus on public charging in Nordics and Central Europe

By Eve

Mer, the EV charging arm of Norwegian state utility Statkraft, has sold its UK fleet charging business through a management buyout led by existing executives including CEO Paul Winchester. The divestment allows Mer to concentrate on public charging infrastructure in the Nordics, Germany and Austria. The UK fleet operation will continue independently under the new ownership structure.

Why it matters: The exit signals a strategic retreat from the UK commercial fleet segment by a major European operator, potentially opening market share for rivals. For procurement teams, it underscores the importance of supplier stability checks when selecting long term fleet charging partners.
