Wallbox finalises debt restructuring terms with creditors

By Eve

Wallbox has completed negotiations on a debt restructuring agreement with its creditors, according to The EV Report. The Barcelona-based EV charger manufacturer has not disclosed the financial terms or the scale of debt involved in the arrangement.

Why it matters

A restructured balance sheet may stabilise Wallbox's supply chain and project delivery timelines, giving procurement teams clearer visibility on hardware availability. The move also signals whether the vendor remains a viable long-term partner for multi-year charging rollouts.

Wallbox partners Enode to expand energy management options in Europe

EV charging provider Wallbox has partnered with energy orchestration platform Enode to enable its chargers to connect with third party apps and services across Europe via API integration. The partnership allows Wallbox owners to access smart charging, energy optimisation and tailored energy services through platforms already connected to Enode's network, which is used by energy retailers and traders. Wallbox previously partnered with virtual power plant platform Leap in the US to launch its Wallbox Rewards smart charging programme.

Why it matters

The integration expands interoperability for Wallbox hardware across European energy management ecosystems, potentially increasing its appeal to procurement teams seeking flexible, platform agnostic charging infrastructure. CPOs can leverage existing energy retailer relationships and smart charging services without being locked into a single vendor's software stack.

Believ to install more than 600 chargers across Ayrshire in 15 year council partnership

EV charge point operator Believ has secured a 15 year agreement with three Ayrshire councils to install more than 600 chargers at around 300 locations, with installation beginning in early 2027. The project combines over £2.8m from the Scottish Government's EV Infrastructure Fund with more than £15m in committed capital investment from Believ, delivered alongside Transport Scotland and the Scottish Futures Trust. The rollout includes roughly 180 chargers for East Ayrshire, 210 for North Ayrshire and 220 for South Ayrshire, with passive infrastructure for over 450 additional chargers to enable future upgrades without disruptive roadworks.

Why it matters

This major regional deployment demonstrates how CPOs can secure long term public sector contracts by combining government funding with substantial private capital, creating a scalable model for rural and island charging access. The inclusion of passive infrastructure for 450 additional chargers shows forward planning that reduces future deployment costs and speeds network expansion as EV adoption grows.

Vietnam mandates cross-brand compatibility at public EV chargers from July 2027

Circular 61/2026/TT-BCT, issued by Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, requires public EV charging stations to serve vehicles from multiple manufacturers starting 1 July 2027. Operators must install compatible connectors, charging modes and technical specifications, and station control systems must not restrict charging for publicly declared compatible vehicle configurations. The regulation emphasises technical compatibility without mandating support for all vehicle brands, The Investor reported on 8 October.

Why it matters

The rule forces charging point operators in Vietnam to design infrastructure for interoperability, potentially raising upfront costs but widening the addressable customer base. Procurement teams and OEMs will need to verify that hardware and software meet the new compatibility standards ahead of the July 2027 deadline.
