WeaveGrid partners with GM Energy to connect EV drivers with energy programs

By Eve

Grid software provider WeaveGrid is collaborating with GM Energy to give eligible Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac EV drivers in the US access to energy grid programmes. The partnership covers managed charging, bidirectional charging, and residential energy storage, targeting the 250,000 plus bidirectional capable GM EVs already on American roads. Through WeaveGrid's platform, eligible owners of bidirectional GM EVs and households with GM Energy's vehicle to home systems will be able to enrol in utility programmes where available.

Why it matters: The collaboration signals a shift in how grid operators view EVs, with utilities increasingly treating vehicles and home batteries as energy tools to balance demand rather than simply add to it. For charge point operators and energy managers, the partnership demonstrates how vehicle to grid and vehicle to home capabilities are moving from pilot schemes to scaled deployment across a major manufacturer's fleet.
