Tata Motors completes initial settlement of Iveco acquisition with 89.42% stake as Indian EV makers expand capacity
By Eve
In its weekly wrap for October 26 to November 1, the publication reports that Tata Motors completed the initial settlement of its voluntary tender offer for Italian commercial vehicle maker Iveco Group on October 30, securing an 89.42% equity stake. Ather Energy, Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor and Hero MotoCorp outlined plans to expand electric two-wheeler production as demand continued to exceed available capacity, while a Boston Consulting Group report highlighted that India's electric two-wheeler market is concentrated among five manufacturers. The wrap also noted Hyundai's Bayon SUV launch at Rs 9.99 lakh, record October sales at Maruti Suzuki and reports of a new Tata midsize electric SUV codenamed Kuno.
Why it matters
Demand for electric two-wheelers still outstripping supply, with the four largest makers adding capacity, points to a growing fleet that will need charging and swapping infrastructure, though the market's concentration among five manufacturers means partnership decisions will sit with a small group of OEMs. Tata's consolidation of Iveco also signals a larger commercial vehicle player whose electrification plans may shape future depot charging demand.

Sustainable Bus Magazine November 2026 issue covers APTA Expo, Solaris US debut and Buy America requirements
The November 2026 issue of Sustainable Bus Magazine, titled "The American Dream", reports from APTA Expo in Chicago and includes a technical presentation of the Solaris Urbino 40 electric, covering its adaptation to North American specifications. It also examines European electric bus registrations, autonomous operations in Austria, charging infrastructure and new vehicles from Yutong, Volvo Buses and Iveco Bus. Print distribution is scheduled at Euro Bus Expo, the IMC Trolleybus and eBRT2030 Conference in Lyon on 11 to 13 November, and IBE Intermobility and Bus Expo in Rimini on 24 to 26 November.
Why it matters
New manufacturers entering the US electric bus market, and the Buy America compliance demands that come with them, shape the vehicle supply and depot charging requirements that CPOs and procurement teams will need to plan around. The issue's charging infrastructure coverage is also worth tracking for fleet-side project opportunities.
Amazon to deploy 3,000 Tata Motors electric trucks across its India transport network
Amazon is deploying 3,000 Tata Motors electric trucks in India, extending its fleet electrification beyond last-mile delivery into middle-mile freight between facilities, within cities and along freight corridors. The rollout begins in Delhi during the festive season, when freight volumes peak, starting with light and medium-duty trucks such as the Tata Ultra E.7 before moving to major national highways. Carrier partners will own and operate the vehicles, and Amazon says it already has more than 15,000 electric vehicles running across 500-plus cities in India, as reported by Charles Morris on 30 October 2026.
Why it matters
Dedicated charging hubs, including those being developed with provider Yahhvi, signal demand for DC fast charging at freight depots and along highway corridors, with carrier partners rather than Amazon owning the vehicles. For CPOs and procurement teams, this points to opportunities in depot and corridor charging for third-party fleet operators in India.
Camouflaged Toyota Corolla Cross, thought to be an EV, spotted on the road ahead of an expected 2027 debut
Electrek reports that a disguised prototype believed to be an electric Toyota Corolla Cross was seen driving near the automaker's European headquarters and research centre, with the images first published by China's Autohome. Electrek says the next Corolla generation will be the first to use Toyota's new multipathway platform, which is meant to support electric, hybrid, petrol and other powertrains, and that an electric version could have one or two motors and a range of at least 250 miles. Toyota has not confirmed battery or powertrain details or a US sales plan, while Nikkei reports production of the new generation is planned for 2028 through the FAW Toyota Motor joint venture in China.
Why it matters
A battery electric Corolla on a multipathway platform would put a very high volume nameplate into the EV market from around 2027, which could widen the base of mainstream drivers needing public and home charging. Details on battery size, charging speed and regional availability remain unconfirmed, so CPOs and procurement teams should treat any demand planning as provisional.
