Indian manufacturer Montra Electric has delivered 65 electric heavy-duty trucks from its Manesar, Haryana factory on 8 July, representing the first batch of a 260-unit fleet order. The Rhino 5538 EV 55-tonne tractor-trailers feature a 280 kW motor, 282 kWh LFP battery offering 169 to 198 kilometres of range depending on drivetrain, and dual-gun fast-charging at up to 240 kW with 20 per cent to 100 per cent charging in 60 minutes. The remaining 195 trucks will be delivered over the coming months.

Electric commercial vehicle manufacturer Montra Electric has signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding with India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to participate in a fleet modernization programme across the Delhi National Capital Region. The agreements, signed independently by the company's Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle and Small Commercial Vehicle divisions, align with the central government's infrastructure support scheme under the National Capital Region Planning Board policy framework. The programme aims to replace older, high emission diesel trucks and buses with zero emission electric commercial vehicles, targeting logistics companies, corporate fleet operators, and transport businesses in one of India's most polluted urban corridors.
