A new all electric Denza N9 appeared in the latest batch of vehicles approved for sale by China's MIIT, with a listed weight of over 8,200 lbs (3,760 kg), as reported this week. It uses BYD's tri motor e3 platform with a 362 hp (270 kW) front motor and two 415 hp (310 kW) rear motors, for 1,193 hp (890 kW) combined. It measures 5,270 mm long with a 3,125 mm wheelbase, comes in five and six seat layouts, and uses an LFP battery with FinDreams cells, though the filing gives no capacity or range.
Why it matters
With battery capacity, range and charging specifications still undisclosed, charging operators cannot yet size the likely energy demand of this very heavy, high output SUV. The existing PHEV Flash Charging version, with a 260 mile (420 km) CLTC electric range, shows BYD is pushing fast charging into its flagship Denza line in China.
