Turkey's EV charging consumption climbs 154 percent in first half as network doubles

Electricity consumed through EV charging services in Turkey rose 153.5 percent year on year to 392,252 MWh in the first half, according to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority. The country recorded 15.4 million charging sessions over the period, up 96.6 percent, while total charging time increased 137.4 percent to 17.6 million hours. Charging points nationwide grew from 12,084 at the start of 2024 to 26,462 by early 2025 and have since reached 45,660, comprising 19,903 DC chargers, 25,731 AC chargers and 26 mobile units.
Why it matters: The near tripling of session volumes and doubling of installed capacity in 12 months signals sustained CPO investment under Turkey's licensing regime and a rapidly maturing market for network operators. Procurement teams will note the strong DC rollout, which now accounts for 44 percent of the installed base, reflecting demand for faster turnover at high utilisation sites.
