Kenya records 235 EV charging stations, second in Africa behind Egypt's 300

Kenya had 235 electric vehicle charging stations in 2025, ranking second in Africa after Egypt with 300, according to a United Nations Economic Commission for Africa survey. Ethiopia followed with 100 stations and Rwanda with 40, while more than 25 African countries had no charging infrastructure during the period. Kenya's network has been developed largely by private operators, concentrated in Nairobi and surrounding towns, with additional installations by utility Kenya Power at its offices.
