Kia EV7 midsize electric SUV revealed in leaked internal document

By Eve

A leaked document from Kia's Employment Stability Committee, uncovered by KoreanCarBlog, says production of the mid-range electric SUV 'EV7' will proceed at Kia's Gwangju factory in South Korea. The EV7 would sit between the EV6 and the three-row EV9, joining a lineup that already includes the EV2, EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6, EV9 and PV5 van. Kia sold 291,219 vehicles last month, up 10.3% on October 2025, its eighth consecutive month of year-on-year growth, and has said it plans to expand to 14 EV models by 2030.

Why it matters

A wider Kia EV range, with a new midsize model filling the gap between the EV6 and EV9, points to a growing base of Kia EVs needing charging, particularly in Europe where Kia is prioritising fully electric vehicles. Details such as battery size and charging speed are not yet known, so planning assumptions on charging demand should stay provisional.

Kia posts record US October sales of 80,008 vehicles as the EV3 reaches showrooms

Kia sold 80,008 vehicles in the US in October, up 16% year over year and its best October ever, with electrified and hybrid sales up 112% and 114% respectively. EV9 sales are up 5% year to date at 13,835 units through October, while EV6 sales are down 39% year to date at 7,067 units. The new entry-level EV3, on sale since mid-August, sold 1,496 units in its first two months and is now in showrooms nationwide.

Why it matters

A growing base of EV9 and EV3 buyers points to steady demand for public charging, though the EV6 decline shows uneven momentum across models. For CPOs and site planners, the arrival of a lower-priced EV3 may widen the driver pool using public networks.

JCT600 opens its first Kia Platform Beyond Vehicle dealership in Doncaster

JCT600 has opened its first Kia Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) dealership on Wheatley Hall Road, Doncaster, sharing premises with JCT600 Changan Doncaster and the group's JCT600 Approved used vehicle outlet. The site will serve business and fleet customers across Doncaster and South Yorkshire, and will offer Kia's PV5 electric van in Cargo and Passenger configurations, the latter also available through the Motability scheme. It is JCT600's second light commercial vehicle franchise, alongside Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, for which the group runs five Van Centres.

Why it matters

A new dealer channel for purpose-built electric vans in South Yorkshire points to growing local fleet adoption, which is likely to create demand for depot and workplace charging. CPOs and installers serving business customers in the region may find new opportunities among fleets making the switch.

Foodstuffs North Island names its first electric semi, a DeepWay Star, 'Evie' after a school competition

Foodstuffs North Island Limited has named its Chinese-built DeepWay Star electric semi 'Evie', chosen by Year 2 pupil Madison in a competition run with Russell Street School in Palmerston North. The truck began delivering chilled and frozen groceries across the lower North Island earlier this year, and the unveiling was attended by Mayor Grant Smith, local MP Tangi Utikeri and local PAK'nSAVE, New World and Four Square grocers. The report comes from a news article, and the excerpt provided gives no battery, range or charging figures.

Why it matters

Foodstuffs describes Evie as its first electric truck, a sign that a major New Zealand grocery supply chain is putting heavy electric trucks into regular chilled and frozen delivery work. For CPOs and procurement teams, that points to potential depot charging demand in the lower North Island, though the excerpt gives no detail on charging arrangements.
