Odisha proposes 290 more public EV charging stations across 13 cities under PM E-DRIVE

By Eve

Odisha has submitted a proposal to the Centre for 290 additional public charging stations in 13 cities under the PM E-DRIVE scheme, subject to central approval. Of the proposed locations, 68 are at Tourism Department Wayside Amenity Centres and six are on highways, including the Paradip to Badabil corridor, with BHEL appointed as Project Implementation Agency to carry out site surveys. The first phase already has central approval for 170 stations across seven cities, with work underway, while the state is separately pursuing more than 500 further stations through its own initiatives.

Why it matters

A named implementation agency, a defined site pipeline and public land such as the Wayside Amenity Centres point to near-term tender and partnership opportunities for CPOs and equipment suppliers in Odisha. Approval from the Centre remains the gating factor, and BHEL's feasibility surveys will shape which sites proceed.

TotalEnergies opens its first 1,000 kW Megawatt Charging System lane for electric trucks at Phalsbourg in Moselle

TotalEnergies has commissioned its first Megawatt Charging System (MCS) in France, on the AS 24 multi-energy station at Phalsbourg in Moselle, close to the A4 freight corridor between France and Germany. The site already had six CCS charge points and now adds an MCS lane fed by a 1,000 kW cabinet, which the group says charges twice as fast as current high power chargers, taking a compatible truck battery from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes. The station also serves as a pilot site, where TotalEnergies research teams test MCS-compatible trucks and measure the charging curve, power actually delivered, infrastructure reliability and charger to vehicle communication, according to French trade coverage of the inauguration.

Why it matters

TotalEnergies joins competitors already operating MCS, so megawatt charging for heavy goods vehicles is moving from trial towards a competitive offer on key cross-border corridors. For CPOs and procurement teams, the pilot's data on real delivered power and charger to vehicle interoperability will be a useful benchmark when specifying 1,000 kW hardware.

Iberdrola and BYD sign agreement to offer free home chargers and bonus electricity to BYD plug-in buyers in Spain

Iberdrola and BYD have announced a strategic agreement to launch the 'Plan Recarga Inteligente' (Smart Recharge Plan) in Spain, covering both home charging and medium and long-distance travel. Buyers of a new BYD plug-in model, including 100% electric cars and DM-i plug-in hybrids, receive the home charging equipment at no extra cost if they contract the installation with Iberdrola at a reduced price. The programme also includes a bonus of 10,000 km of electricity for subscribers to the plan and exclusive advantages on the public charging network, as reported in the announcement excerpt.

Why it matters

Bundling free hardware with an energy utility installation shows automakers and utilities locking up the home charging channel at the point of vehicle sale, which narrows the opening for independent installers and charge point operators. Operators should watch how the public network perks steer BYD drivers towards Iberdrola's charging infrastructure.

Exicom Q2 FY27 consolidated revenue rises 38% sequentially to ₹388.3 crore as board approves Tritium divestment

Exicom Tele-Systems reported consolidated revenue of ₹388.3 crore for Q2 FY27, up 38% sequentially, with EBITDA turning positive at ₹1.8 crore against a loss of ₹21.9 crore in Q1 and the net loss narrowing to ₹57.8 crore from ₹73.6 crore. Standalone revenue was ₹277 crore, up 21.3% year on year, with EBITDA up 69% to ₹25.6 crore and a margin of 9.2%, while standalone EV charging revenue passed ₹100 crore in a quarter for the first time. The board approved the proposed divestment of its global DC fast-charging business, Tritium, to focus capital on Indian EV charging and other export markets, and the company said it made 2.5 times as many AC chargers and twice as many DC chargers as in the previous quarter and expanded exports into 10 more countries.

Why it matters

A supplier moving to shed its global DC fast-charging arm and concentrate capital on India signals stronger domestic hardware capacity and a sharper focus for buyers and CPOs sourcing chargers there. Procurement teams should watch how the Tritium exit affects product roadmaps, support and warranty commitments.
