ThunderPlus deploys 120 kW DC fast charger on Kurnool Road to serve Hyderabad to Bengaluru highway corridor

By Eve

ThunderPlus has installed a 120 kW DC fast-charging station at Amazon Kitchens on Kurnool Road in Andhra Pradesh, targeting intercity EV traffic along NH-44 between Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The site also connects to NH-40 and NH-340C, extending coverage across the Rayalaseema region towards Tamil Nadu. The highway location enables drivers to charge during meal or rest breaks rather than making dedicated charging stops.

Why it matters

The deployment addresses a critical gap in long distance charging infrastructure along a major inter-state corridor, demonstrating how CPOs are positioning fast chargers at amenity locations to align with driver behaviour. The 120 kW capacity and multi-highway connectivity make the site commercially relevant for fleet operators and private users on high traffic routes.

ThunderPlus installs Hyderabad's first public EV charging station at AIG Hospital campus

ThunderPlus has installed Hyderabad's first public EV charging facility within a hospital campus at AIG Hospital, Gachibowli. The facility features a 60 kW DC fast charger and a 7.4 kW AC charger, with the DC unit enabling charging in approximately 30 to 45 minutes. The station is accessible to hospital staff, visitors and the general public.

Why it matters

The installation demonstrates a new site category for charging infrastructure deployment, targeting healthcare campuses where users spend extended periods. For CPOs and site hosts, hospitals represent high dwell time locations with captive audiences of staff and visitors, potentially offering strong utilisation rates for charging assets.

British firm char.gy secures 11 council projects to deploy over 60,000 on street charging sockets

Charging operator char.gy has won 11 council backed projects across England to install more than 60,000 new on street charging sockets, with four contracts signed and installations underway in Brighton and Hove, Reading, Devon and Torbay, and West Northamptonshire. Over 650 sockets are already live, with seven further projects including the Isle of Wight and Central Bedfordshire moving towards final contract signatures. The expansion addresses a gap in provision, as research shows half of UK councils still lack on street charging for residents without driveways, affecting 40% of drivers who live in properties without off street parking.

Why it matters

The multi council pipeline signals sustained procurement activity for on street charging infrastructure, with char.gy emerging as a major contractor for local authority rollouts. For CPOs and suppliers, the scale of the programme and the number of councils involved indicate growing public sector commitment to kerbside charging solutions, particularly in areas where private driveway access is limited.

Nio battery swap stations handle three times more sessions per site than BYD Flash Charging during China's Golden Week

During China's National Day Golden Week holiday (1 to 7 October), Nio's 4,168 battery swap stations averaged 44 swaps per site on the busiest day, compared to 15.5 charging sessions per site across BYD's 12,165 Flash Charging stations. Both networks served 188,344 vehicles on their respective peak days, with BYD completing over 1.22 million charging sessions across the week. Nio's busiest single station completed 211 battery swaps.

Why it matters

The threefold efficiency advantage per site demonstrates battery swapping's throughput potential during peak demand periods, offering procurement teams and CPOs comparative data on infrastructure utilisation rates when evaluating charging versus swapping models for high traffic locations.
