Autel Energy has introduced a Cable Protection Program offering OEM replacement cables and connectors for its commercial chargers, addressing what the manufacturer identifies as a leading cause of downtime. The service covers damage from vandalism, vehicle contact, wear, and weather, with enrolment available for new units or those under warranty. A Cable Protection Plus tier adds installation by Autel or authorised partners.

Peter Burke, EV Infrastructure Delivery at the NRMA, told the Autel EV Innovation Seminar 2026 that grid access has become the primary constraint for charging networks, even as newer electric vehicles demand higher charging speeds and volumes. Burke noted that vehicles three to four years ago required less capacity than current models, yet grid limitations mean operators cannot simply install larger chargers. He advised that each site must be designed around demand patterns, peaks, troughs and available grid capacity rather than pursuing maximum charger output.

The company reports average customers charge over 3,500 kWh per year, yielding more than CA$350 annually. The programme works with existing OCPP-compatible chargers from Autel, Leviton, Siemens and Wallbox, and the ChargeLab app also provides roaming-free access to public networks including SureCharge, Filgo, Nova Scotia Power and Ivy Charging Network.

Amazon is offering Autel's MaxiCharger AC Pro level 2 EV charger at $909, part of a wider sale that includes the Anker SOLIX S2000 portable power station at $599.99, down from $1,199. The Anker unit is close to 50% off and within $1 of its Prime Day price, according to 9to5Toys.

Autel Energy and ChargeLab announced a strategic partnership on 7 April to combine Autel's MaxiCharger hardware portfolio with ChargeLab's cloud-based charging station management system for the Canadian market. The bundled solution will be available through authorized distributors such as EV-olution Charging Systems and includes smart charging features like load balancing, real-time monitoring, and Spark AI-powered network operations. The partnership addresses Canadian-specific requirements including zero-cost monthly cloud plans, carbon credit assistance, local payment and tax compliance, and weather-rated hardware for extreme climates.

Danish charge point management software provider Monta has published its 2025 Charger Performance ranking based on uptime and charging success rate across 260,000 chargers, mainly in Europe. Alpitronic, used by Ampol AmpCharge and BP Pulse in Australia, secured the top four positions, while Kempower (deployed by Evie Networks, Exploren and RAA) took fifth and seventh with its C and S series units. Autel, installed at Woolworths sites on the Chargefox network, ranked sixth with the second highest uptime but the lowest charging success rate in the top ten at 87.85 per cent.

Autel Energy is integrating Nayax Uno Mini payment devices into approximately 100,000 of its EV chargers across North America and Europe by the end of 2026, starting with a new US configuration of its MaxiCharger AC Single. The embedded readers allow drivers to tap, dip or swipe credit cards directly at Level 2 chargers without apps or accounts, targeting destination, workplace, hospitality, fleet and multifamily sites. The payment enabled units retain the same footprint and hardware as existing models, delivering adjustable output up to 19.2 kW and supporting dynamic load balancing.

Why it matters: The 100,000 unit rollout represents a significant procurement opportunity for site hosts seeking frictionless payment infrastructure, while the unchanged form factor simplifies retrofit and mixed site deployments.
