JSW Green Mobility has taken a strategic stake in Lithium Urban Technologies, an Indian electric fleet operator founded in 2015 that currently manages over 3,000 EVs and 1,300 charging points for more than 100 enterprise clients. The investment aims to triple the business over the next two years and create between 12,000 and 15,000 jobs, while expanding both the physical fleet and charging infrastructure. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal gives JSW a foothold in enterprise fleet services, charging infrastructure and mobility software across India.
Why it matters: The acquisition signals growing consolidation in India's commercial EV charging sector, with a vehicle manufacturer moving into managed fleet and charging operations at scale. Lithium Urban's planned threefold expansion of its 1,300 charging points could create significant procurement opportunities for charge point suppliers and installation contractors serving enterprise customers over the next 24 months.
